Professional Credentials

I have worked for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks since 1989, first as a Research Fisheries Biologist in Libby (5.5 years), then as a Management Fisheries Biologist in Helena (1.5 years), and currently as the Water Pollution Biologist (7.0 years).  Prior experience in the fisheries field included work as a consultant from 1984-1989 (primarily doing fish habitat restoration work), fisheries technician work for MFWP (1979 and 1983-1984), fisheries bioassay studies at Montana State University (MSU)(1982-1983), and mercury contamination in fish studies also at MSU (1980-1981).  I earned an M.S. in Fish and Wildlife from the University of Missouri in 1979, and did my thesis work studying the bioaccumulation of pesticides in fish and aquatic invertebrates.  My B.S. was in Zoology from MSU in 1976.

American Fisheries Society Involvement

  • I have been a member of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) since 1980. 
  • From 1996-2001, I was the Chair of the Environmental Concerns Committee for the Montana Chapter of the AFS. 
  • Since 2002, I have been a member of the Fish Management Chemical Subcommittee of the Chemical Task Force of the national AFS. 
  • I helped instruct a one-day class on fish health at the 2003 Annual meeting of the Montana Chapter AFS. 
  • In 2002, I moderated one of the sessions of the symposium hosted by the Montana Chapter entitled �Practical Approaches to Conserving Native Inland Fishes of the West� held in Missoula Montana.
