Summary for 1970
On March 13,1970, a group of 31 fisheries and aquatic professionals met to establish the Indiana Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (IAFS). Under the chairmanship of Gary Doxtater, the organizational committee of Frank Lockard, Gary Doxtater, Thomas McComish, and George Hansen had already acquired our charter form the parent society, at the time celebrating its 100th anniversary. Bylaws were adopted, annual dues were established at $2.00, meetings were proposed, and officers were elected at the first meeting in Indianapolis. From the list of those attending, 25 of whom were national members, Frank Lockard was chosen as President, Thomas McComish as President-Elect and Gary Doxtater as Secretary-Treasurer. A business-social meeting was held at Redbrush Park near Seymour that fall courtesy of Aquatic Control, Inc.
